One of the best things about Prince William Sound is the fishing! There is nothing like Alaska fishing and Valdez fishing is among the finest in Alaska. Several derbies are sponsored by Valdez and awards total over $65,000 in prizes. If you want a great Alaskan fishing experience, fish Valdez Alaska.

Salmon and halibut fishing are both excellent in Prince William Sound. Records continue to be set by Valdez fishing charters. Barn door size halibut, while rare, are a definite possibility. The popularity of halibut fishing has grown in recent years and continues to be a stable attraction all summer long. Halibut charters offer daylong trips into the Sound for an unforgettable experience. The halibut are caught as early as May and as late as September, although some die-hards fish all year long.

Salmon fishing season starts in early July with the pink salmon (humpback) and continues through September with the Silver Salmon. Pinks are just plain fun to catch. They range in weight from 5 to 10 pounds. Silver salmon (coho) are the most favored by the locals and are much bigger than the pinks, ranging from 10 to 20 pounds. The best thing about the salmon fishing in Alaska is everyone comes back with something! Salmon Charters are only half a day – the limit of 6 fish comes quickly.

One Call Does It All can arrange a fishing charter for you during your stay in Valdez. Both Halibut and Salmon Charters go out daily.

Salmon Charters

Boats leave at 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM for the half day charters. The cost varies from $75 to $95 per person. Boats carry from 4 to 6 fishermen at a time. If you have a large group, boats can fish together, each boat carrying part of the group.

Halibut Charters

Boats leave at 7:00 AM and return at 7:00 PM. The cost varies from $195 to $255 per person. Boats can carry from 6 to 10 fishermen. The charter will take you 50 miles into Prince William Sound where the best fishing is. Fish also caught are ling cod-starting July 1^st, red snapper, sea bass and other species.
